If you have already implemented these changes or are using a Peach plugin (Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento and/or Wix) please ignore this notification. If you have a custom integration using our Copy and Pay, and/or server-to-server please implement the Payments Association of South Africa (PASA) mandated changes outlined below.

Dear Merchant,

This is an urgent update required by Visa and Mastercard to be completed as soon as possible.

At Peach Payments, we strive to continuously provide world-class, leading payments infrastructure that offers a secure and seamless experience for our merchants and their customers.

This mandated switchover requires our merchants to implement certain changes to their front-end card validation for the expiry date of cards.

What action is required from You/The Merchant?

  • URGENT ACTION REQUIRED: Removal of Expiry Date validation, allowing expired cards
  • If you are making use of the Copy&Pay integration this entails adding the JavaScript properly to the Copy&Pay widget. Please see here. The respective parameter is “disableCardExpiryDateValidation”
  • If you are doing Server2Server integration please remove any custom front-end validation you might have implemented.

Why is this now a requirement?

  • The Card schemes(Visa and Mastercard) have advised that expiry should not be validated by merchants or acquirers and that this validation is done by the issuing banks (customers' banks) to advise whether or not to decline the transaction.

Please see the scheme notes below.

  • Visa rule :
  • Regardless of the Floor Limit, a Merchant must request Online Authorization if any of the following:        The Cardholder presents an Expired Card…
  • Mastercard rule :
  • “…the acquirer should forward and not decline any card with an expired expiry date”.

Deadline Notes:

  • These changes are required to be made before the end of May 2023.

Thank You for using Peach Payments as a Payment Gateway.
